THE PROBLEM The market is full of pollinator wildflower mixtures in a range of prices and regions. Many include non-native and invasive spe-cies that can be detrimental to native habitat and cause confusion for well-intentioned consumers. A study cited by the National Park Service showed a greater diversity and abundance of birds and caterpillars were found in yards containing regionally appropriate native plants.
THE SOLUTION Stover Seed, in collaboration with Pollinator Partnership (a nonprofit dedicated to pollinator health and conservation), developed a series of regionally specific native plant-pollinator seed mixes. Our goal was to provide an ideal wildflower habitat for home gardens to provide pollinators with a diversity of flowers that are native to each region and will bloom across growing seasons.
What makes these mixtures special?
Pollinator Partnership’s biologists developed and met the following criteria for each regional mixture:
- Contains a minimum of 9 species
- Provides a minimum of 2 blooming species each season—spring, summer, and fall.
- Contains no invasive species
- All species are native to each specific region.
- Ecologically designed to provide floral resources for a diversity of pollinator species.
You can plant with confidence knowing you have the right seeds to truly benefit your environment.
Pollinator Partnership (P2) is a non-profit 501(c) organization—the largest in the world dedicated exclusively to the protection and promotion of pollinators and their ecosystems. Pollinator Partnership’s mission is to promote the health of pollinators, critical to food and ecosystems, through conserva-tion, education, and research. A portion of the sales price of this wildflower mix is donated to P2 to assist in their mission. For more infor-mation on Pollinator Partnership and their programs visit www.pollinator.org
