Collection: Fine Fescue
Fine Fescue defines a group of grasses that originated in Europe with similar characteristics. The four most prominent fine fescues species are Creeping Red Fescue, Chewings Fescue, Hard Fescue and Sheep Fescue. They all exhibit very thin blades with exceptional shade tolerance. Fine fescue grasses are popular in lawn seed mixtures with Kentucky Bluegrass and/or Perennial Ryegrass and are usually a component of shade grass mixtures. While fine fescues do not have good heat tolerance when mowed they do exhibit better heat tolerance if left unmowed for use as a slope or ground cover. In some instances wildflowers can be incorporated in the mixture to add color.
